What God Originates He Orchestrates
Today, I want to chat about something pretty powerful: the idea that what God originates, He orchestrates. God’s got everything under control – basically, if God starts something, He’s going to see it through.
Hearing that, you might feel like it’s the best news ever, ready to let God drive and enjoy the ride. But if you’re in a tough spot, those words might bring up bitterness, confusion, or a sense of being lost.
You might wonder, “If God’s in charge, why is this happening?” I get it. I’ve swung from trust to doubt myself. Sometimes our plans don’t match God’s, and our heartfelt prayers don’t pan out as we hope.
What Will God Orchestrate?
He will orchestrate the discipleship that is going to come from the effort that I am going to put in. He is going to orchestrate the spiritual growth that happens in my heart.
What God originates, He orchestrates the lessons that we need to learn to be humble. He’s going to make sure there’s steps in my life to live more like Jesus.
It’s so hard to constantly be pruned. This is real in my life right now, in the season that we’re in. Never in a million years did I think that I would be homeschooling. But I know God planted that seed. It took me several years, but I finally surrendered to it.
And now I can see that He originated that desire, and He’s orchestrating it. Because now He is putting up accountability, boundaries, and guidance for me to make sure that, in this homeschooling journey, I am doing things properly.
He’s making sure that I am following through even on my lazy days and that I am honoring my number one priority, which is my family.
Me and God have constant conversations about this, but that’s just my simple illustration. I don’t know what you’re dealing with or what you wish God would just give you a plan or a path for.
But maybe it’s just a matter of you listening more.
God Originated Love Fast Live Slow
Here’s another example of how God is orchestrating in my life. You guys know that we released our first book, Love Fast Live Slow, back in June. Thank you so much for your support in that book, by the way.
Thank you so much for the journey that we’ve had so far, it’s really been amazing to see all of the feedback and encouragement and support.
And truly, the discipleship that has happened through writing this book for Nick and I was a game changer. So we decided to take it a step further and we created a study guide to dive deeper into the principles that we talk about in the original book.
This is really important, it wasn’t just thrown together. We tried to think about what we could write that would teach our friends, our readers, to dive deeper into the principles of how to simplify God’s calling for their life.
And not just the call for their life, as if it’s about them, but simplifying how to imitate, model, and reflect Jesus in a world that is so stressed out.
Are You Having a Hard Time Believing This Truth?
For those of you who are sitting in pain right now, because God answered your prayer in a way that you didn’t expect, and you are grieving the way that He has come through, I’m so sorry.
I’m so sorry that you’re having to sit in that pain, and I love you, and I cannot imagine the story that you have and what God is trying to tell you. If this is the case, hearing what God originates, He orchestrates may sting.
It’s not like a life lesson that you might have to learn, it’s not Him trying to prove that he can pull you through this time of pain.
I truly do empathize. And I say whether you know it or not, whether you understand it or not, God loves you.
I do know that the one truth that we can hang onto is that the Bible is real.
He talks about a real savior who can provide real truth, hope, love, and guidance.
So when you feel like you cannot get up for one more day, just know that you are not alone and that God sees every tear. You are not invisible. God sees every pain, he feels everything that you feel.
I feel like I just needed to state that for those of you who are in a situation where you may not like the way that God is running your life right now.
But I am still encouraging and challenging you to surrender that grasp and try to open your hands a little bit more today. Because, even if it’s hard to accept, what God originates, He orchestrates.
“‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.’” Isaiah 55:8-9
We’re gonna dive into Isaiah 55:8-9, it’s one of my favorite passages. Right there, God is saying His thoughts are better, His ways are better.
We aren’t always going to understand what God originates, He orchestrates. But He knows what is best for us.
I think about the repetition of my children asking for things that I know are not best for them.
For example, my son has gluten and egg allergies, and he constantly asks for foods that will interrupt the healthy flow of his body. Have I given in? Yes, I absolutely have.
And unfortunately, I have seen the damage that it has done to his gut health and mental health. So, why would I continue to allow him to put something in his body that has a bad reaction?
Because I love him, I am going to steer him in a new direction and say, “But my ways honey, my wisdom is better than your wisdom. And I know that it will generate some frustration in your heart, but mommy knows that this type of food does not sit well with you.”
I feel like a lot of times, when I am begging God to follow through on a prayer, or for Him to answer something, or for Him to pour out favor on a plan that I have made, God is like, “Laura, I hear what you are asking, but I know that’s not best for you because I see the bigger picture.
I have this other plan for you.” It’s a constant struggle of surrender and humility for me to realize that what God originates, He is going to orchestrate. I’ll say that again. What God originates, the passion and desires in my heart, He will make happen.
I tend to think that means that I have to plan it out, map it out, put in the effort, trust myself, strategize everything, hustle, extend myself, I have to do everything.
And God is like, “Laura, if I am originating this passion, this calling, this desire in your heart, if I am asking you to do something, then I will also orchestrate it.”
Which means that God, In all of His wisdom, in all of His ways, in all of His thoughts that are above my thoughts, God will orchestrate what is best.
How Stressed Out Are You Right Now?
How close to burnout are you? Are you almost at the point of meltdown? I’ve been there, I know that feeling of overwhelm, of pushing autopilot because you don’t really know how else to operate and nothing else is in your control.
I’m challenging you with this, I know its repetition, if you pray, if you surrender, if you dig deeper into God’s word, He will answer your cry.
You have to be like the praying widow that we talk about in this book, where we speak about the repetition and the consistency of praying day in and day out for the desires of your heart and for the desires of God.
You have to surrender and say, “Hey God, I trust you and the answers that you are going to give me.”
The 6-week bible study that goes along with our book goes deeper into those truths, and that’s what we’re encouraging you to do.
Because I don’t want this to be a journey that I go on alone, I want to go on it with you.
To find the simplicity and eliminate unnecessary stress, you need in your life to love fast, to live slow.
“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11
It is really great to set goals and ambitions, but don’t forget what 1 Thessalonians 4:11 says.
Really, it’s not about you. It’s about God, it’s about Jesus, it’s about reflecting Him in this really stressed out world.
And the best way to shine a light in this world right now is to live in a place of peace and calm, knowing that God is in control and God is sovereign.
And truly, if there is any way that I can link arms with you and say God loves you and God has it under control, I’m here for you and you aren’t alone.
I want to breathe that into you. Because I struggle with that. I need that constant reminder that I am not alone. God feels what I feel. He knows what I go through. He knows every part of me and still loves me. Girl, God loves you, and he wants to help you.
So surrender, don’t carry all of the weight on your shoulders. Let it go.
I’m excited to dive deeper in with you guys.
