Is Homeschooling For Me?
Is homeschooling for me?
Question of the month: Is homeschooling for me? In the midst of so much unknown in 2020, many parents are having to decide if homeschooling is their best next step.
Spoiler alert: We have decided to homeschool. How can you tell if homeschooling is for you?
And I will give you a short version of the back story because there is a whole lot to our school journey (but that’s for another day).
I felt like a ninja turtle in my green mask last weekend while I spent a few days in Atlanta at a homeschool conference.
Before 2020, I knew God was calling me to bring the boys home. Even last Fall, I wrestled with this and finally surrendered.
It felt scary and so free.
That being said, after much prayer, this was our family choice. And for this upcoming school year, it breaks my heart for families who do not have the privilege to choose.
Whether you want to do the traditional route, hybrid route, virtual school, or homeschool … anyone who WANTS to do something else but their hands are tied… I am so sorry.
I’ve been incredibly burdened and sorry bc this is all a mess.
You think, “Is homeschooling for me?” but it’s a tough call.
It’s all tough. You are a great momma. Praying for you today.
Earlier this week I did a 5-minute Live Slow Bible Study that hashed out this very topic. Did you know if we need answers, you can ask God?
If you are stuck on a fork-in-the-road, God can tell you which way to go.
For instance, Proverbs 2:3-9 is packed with hope:
Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.
Seek wisdom like you are searching for hidden treasure.
Be relentless, know 100% it’s attainable and invest time, resources, and effort to find the answers you need.
In addition to “Is homeschooling for me?” – Here are some LFLS updates:
Messages like this make my day: “I am buying a bunch to gift to my bestest friends – we all needed this book!
You have a gift of writing and IDK if God has put it on your heart or not but would love to read more from you or if you have a bible study.”
What’s next?
A: Yes, we are writing more!
A: Yes, we have bible studies!
Before we launched LFLS, I published two ebooks (10-day devotionals) called Hidden Heroes & Almost Heroes. Just $2.99 on Amazon, y’all! Dig in!
